### Formula name

WORK

### Description

mechanical work of a force

### Syntax

/*Work done by a constant force F along a distance d*/

W = F*d*COS(α)

W = F*d*COS(α)

### Notes

Work done by constant force F along a straight path of length d, where alpha is the angle between the direction of the force and the path.

If the force points along the direction of the path, the angle alpha is zero, thus cos(alpha) will be 1 and the formula reduces to W = F*d.

If the force points along the direction of the path, the angle alpha is zero, thus cos(alpha) will be 1 and the formula reduces to W = F*d.
