Formula name

DEFLECTION_OF_ELECTRONS

Description

deflection in a magnetic field

Syntax

/* As long as the magnetic field remains constant and the velocity of the electron is perpendicular to the field, the flight path will be bend in a radius of curvature r. */
r = [me] * v /( [ec] * B)

Notes

In a magnetic field there is a force acting on charged moving particles both perpendicular to the magnetic field as well as the direction of the velocity so that the particle will be deflected.
